Food pairing
Clams, calamari, sushi, light dishes with lemon, baked pastries
Area of production
Verdeca is a refreshing, dry grape variety that was used to produce Vermouth for many years. Today Verdeca is grown in Puglia, the region that sits in the heel of Italy, in small quantities. The soil is characterised by medium-textured limestone and the climate is hot and often dry.
Production process
The grapes are picked from 15 to 20 year old espalier trained low yield vines. Low temperature (18 °C) fermentation in stainless steel vats helps to retain freshness and purity.
Fun facts
Produttori di Manduria is the oldest cooperative still active in Apulia. Today the company can count on 900 hectares of vineyards, mainly cultivated with Primitivo grapes. There are more than 400 small artisans-winemakers who, thanks to their deep knowledge of this ancient vine, have earned the mention of "Masters in Primitivo". In 2018, the first in Italy with 8 other pioneers, the winery obtained the certification of "Sustainable Company".
